Korean Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken Bites

Ingredients

For the Chicken:

  • 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

For the Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ½ teaspoon red chili flakes (optional, for spice)
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (to thicken)

For Garnish:

  • Chopped green onions or parsley
  • Toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chicken:
  • In a large bowl, season chicken pieces with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well and set aside for 10 minutes.
  1. Coat the Chicken:
  • In one bowl, add the flour and cornstarch.
  • In another, beat the eggs.
  • Dip each chicken piece in the flour mixture, then into the eggs, then back into the flour again for an extra-crispy coating.
  1. Deep Fry the Chicken:
  • Heat vegetable oil in a large pot or deep pan over medium-high heat (around 350°F / 175°C).
  • Fry the chicken in batches, about 4–5 minutes each, until golden and crispy.
  • Remove and place on paper towels.
  • For ultimate crunch, double fry them: let rest for 5 minutes, then fry again for 2 minutes until deep golden.
  1. Make the Sauce:
  • In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, ketchup, vinegar, garlic, ginger, sesame oil, and chili flakes.
  • Bring to a simmer over medium heat for 3–4 minutes.
  • Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.
  1. Coat the Chicken:
  • Add the fried chicken pieces into a large bowl.
  • Pour the hot sauce over and toss until every piece is coated and sticky.
  1. Serve:
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions or parsley.
  • Serve hot with steamed rice or fries.

Tips:

  • Double frying gives the chicken a restaurant-style crispiness.
  • You can swap honey for maple syrup if you prefer a deeper flavor.
  • Want it spicier? Add 1 tablespoon of gochujang (Korean chili paste) to the sauce.

Benefits

  • High in protein and rich in flavor.
  • Garlic and ginger boost immunity and aid digestion.
  • Perfect balance of sweet, savory, and tangy — it satisfies every craving!

Conclusion

These crispy honey garlic chicken bites are pure comfort food — crunchy, saucy, and sticky with the perfect glaze. Whether you serve them as an appetizer or a main dish, they’ll disappear fast!
