2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
4 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the chocolate ganache
1 and 1/2 cups heavy cream
2 cups semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
2 tablespoons butter

  2. In a large bowl mix flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
  4. Pour in boiling water or hot coffee. Batter will be thin.
  5. Divide into pans and bake 30–35 minutes.
  6. Cool completely before assembling.

Make the fudge filling

  1. Heat heavy cream in a saucepan until steaming.
  2. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips and butter.
  3. Rest 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  4. Add vanilla and refrigerate 30–40 minutes until thick enough to spread.

Make the ganache

  1. Heat cream until hot.
  2. Pour over chopped chocolate.
  3. Let sit 3 minutes and stir until glossy.
  4. Add butter and mix. Let cool slightly until pourable.

Assembly

  1. Place the first cake layer on a tray.
  2. Spread a generous thick layer of chocolate fudge filling.
  3. Add second cake layer.
  4. Pour warm ganache over the top and spread smoothly over sides.

Methods
Use room-temperature ingredients for better mixing. Hot coffee enhances chocolate flavor. Allow ganache to slightly thicken before pouring so it coats evenly. Refrigerate the cake before slicing to keep layers clean and defined.
