Cheese & Ham Croquettes Recipe
Ingredients:
2 cups (480ml) whole milk
4 tbsp (60g) unsalted butter
½ cup (60g) all-purpose flour
1 cup (100g) diced ham
1½ cups (150g) shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup (100g) breadcrumbs
½ cup (60g) all-purpose flour (for coating)
Vegetable oil for frying
Instructions:
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add ½ cup flour and stir for 1-2 minutes until smooth. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened. Add diced ham, shredded cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg, stirring until combined. Transfer mixture to a dish, cover, and refrigerate for at least 2 hours until firm. Shape into croquettes. Coat each in flour, dip in beaten eggs, then roll in breadcrumbs. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry croquettes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve warm. Enjoy
