Classic Vanilla Bundt Cake Recipe (Moist & Golden)

This cake is soft, buttery, and perfect for any occasion. It’s the kind of cake that fills the whole house with a warm, sweet aroma while baking.

Ingredients

  • 2 ½ cups (310 g) all-purpose flour
  • 2 ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice, rested 10 mins)
  • ½ cup (120 ml) sour cream or plain yogurt (for extra moistness)

(Optional for extra flavor: zest of 1 lemon or orange)

Instructions

1. Prep the Pan

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a bundt pan with butter, then lightly dust with flour (or use nonstick spray with flour).

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.

3. Cream Butter & Sugar

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar with a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).

4. Add Eggs & Vanilla

  • Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Stir in vanilla extract.

5. Combine Wet & Dry

  • Add dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with buttermilk and sour cream.
  • Mix until just combined – don’t overmix.

6. Pour & Bake

  • Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan, spreading evenly.
  • Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

7. Cool & Release

  • Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then carefully invert onto a wire rack.

Optional Glaze (Shiny Finish Like in the Picture)

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk or lemon juice
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Whisk until smooth, then drizzle over cooled cake. This gives a glossy, bakery-style look.

Tips & Variations

  • Swap vanilla for almond extract for a nutty twist.
  • Add chocolate chips, nuts, or berries into the batter.
  • Make it a marble cake by swirling in some cocoa-mixed batter.
  • Serve with whipped cream, fresh fruit, or ice cream.
