Classic Vanilla Bundt Cake Recipe (Moist & Golden)


This cake is soft, buttery, and perfect for any occasion. It’s the kind of cake that fills the whole house with a warm, sweet aroma while baking.
Ingredients
- 2 ½ cups (310 g) all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup (230 g) unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs, room temperature
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240 ml) buttermilk (or 1 cup milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice, rested 10 mins)
- ½ cup (120 ml) sour cream or plain yogurt (for extra moistness)
(Optional for extra flavor: zest of 1 lemon or orange)
Instructions
1. Prep the Pan
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a bundt pan with butter, then lightly dust with flour (or use nonstick spray with flour).
2. Mix Dry Ingredients
- In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
3. Cream Butter & Sugar
- In a large mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar with a hand mixer or stand mixer until light and fluffy (about 3–4 minutes).
4. Add Eggs & Vanilla
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
- Stir in vanilla extract.
5. Combine Wet & Dry
- Add dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with buttermilk and sour cream.
- Mix until just combined – don’t overmix.
6. Pour & Bake
- Pour batter into the prepared bundt pan, spreading evenly.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
7. Cool & Release
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes, then carefully invert onto a wire rack.
Optional Glaze (Shiny Finish Like in the Picture)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tbsp milk or lemon juice
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Whisk until smooth, then drizzle over cooled cake. This gives a glossy, bakery-style look.
Tips & Variations
- Swap vanilla for almond extract for a nutty twist.
- Add chocolate chips, nuts, or berries into the batter.
- Make it a marble cake by swirling in some cocoa-mixed batter.
