Big Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup (170 g) unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- 1 cup (200 g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup (100 g) white sugar
- 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 ½ cups (270 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- (Optional) ½ cup (50 g) chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven:
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper. - Mix dry ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. - Cream butter and sugars:
In a large bowl, mix melted butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth and combined. - Add eggs and vanilla:
Stir in the egg, then the extra yolk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and glossy. - Combine mixtures:
Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mix. Stir gently until just combined — don’t overmix! - Add chocolate chips:
Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using). - Shape cookies:
Scoop large balls (about 2 tablespoons or an ice cream scoop) of dough and place on baking sheets about 2 inches apart. - Bake:
Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are slightly golden but centers are still soft.
(They’ll finish cooking as they cool.) - Cool:
Let cookies rest on the pan for 5 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
Tips for Perfect Cookies:
- Chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking for thicker, chewier cookies.
- Sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking for extra flavor.
- For gooey centers, slightly underbake by 1 minute.
Benefits:
- Homemade with no preservatives
- Provides a quick energy boost from carbs and sugar
- Comfort food that boosts mood
- You can add oats, nuts, or dark chocolate for extra nutrients
Conclusion:
These big chocolate chip cookies are soft, chewy, and rich in flavor — just like classic bakery-style ones. Perfect for parties, gifts, or simply with a glass of cold milk. 🍫🥛
