Cheesy Veggie Topped Hamburger Steaks


Ingredients:
- 3 lbs ground beef (80/20 works best)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tbsp ketchup
Topping:
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (corn, peas, diced carrots, bell peppers, or jalapeños if you like heat)
- 2 Tbsp olive oil or butter
- ½ tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
Cheese:
- 2 cups shredded Colby Jack cheese (or a mix of cheddar & mozzarella)
Instructions:
- Prepare the beef mixture
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and ketchup.
- Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
- Form patties
- Shape into large patties (about 8–10, depending on size).
- Press slightly in the middle so they cook evenly.
- Cook the patties
- Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Cook patties for 5–6 minutes per side until browned and cooked through.
- Transfer to a baking sheet.
- Prepare veggie topping
- In a skillet, heat oil or butter.
- Add mixed veggies, season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Assemble & melt cheese
- Place sautéed veggies over each beef patty.
- Sprinkle generously with shredded cheese.
- Place under broiler (or in a 375°F oven) for 3–5 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve
- Serve hot with ketchup, barbecue sauce, or gravy on the side.
- Great with mashed potatoes, fries, or on a bun as a cheesy burger.
