Scalloped Potatoes

Scalloped Potatoes
Creamy and cheesy scalloped potatoes, a perfect side dish for any special occasion or a cozy family meal.
Recipe
Ingredients:
4 large russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh thyme (optional)
½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
In a separate saucepan, combine the heavy cream and milk. Heat over low heat until warmed through.
Layer the thinly sliced potatoes in the prepared baking dish. Pour half of the creamy mixture over the potatoes and sprinkle with a pinch of salt, pepper, and some thyme if using.
Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes and creamy mixture. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
After 45 minutes, remove the foil and continue baking for another 20-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and the top is golden and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let the dish cool for 5-10 minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of paprika for extra color and flavor, if desired.
