Ingredients
For the Trout:
4 whole trout, cleaned and gutted
2 tbsp olive oil
2 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (adjust for desired heat)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 lemon, thinly sliced
For Garnish:
Fresh parsley or cilantro, chopped
Lemon wedges
Instructions
Mix the Marinade:
In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, smoked paprika, ground cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Generously rub this mixture all over the trout, both inside and out.
Heat the Grill:
Preheat your grill to medium-high. If using a charcoal grill, ensure the coals are hot and ashy. For a gas grill, aim for around 400°F (200°C).
Grill the Trout:
Place the trout on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, until the fish flakes easily with a fork. To prevent sticking, use a grill basket or foil. During the last few minutes, add lemon slices on top for an extra burst of flavor.
Serve:
Remove the trout from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro and serve with additional lemon wedges.
